Ryerson Institute of Technology

The Ryerson Institute of Technology was established in 1948, post World War II in Ontario, Canada. In the first year, the Institute had 250 students enrolled in photography, costume design, and architecture courses. In 1963, the university was given the title ‘polytechnic’ for its vast program options. Gradually the number of enrolled students increased to 10,000. In 1993, Ryerson Polytechnic received the University rank due to excellent academics and research and in 2002, the university got its current title – Ryerson University.

Toronto is one of the world’s top seven cities to live in and Ryerson University is located right in the heart of Toronto on the historical site that housed the first teacher’s college – Toronto Normal School. Currently, the University has 40+ campus buildings located in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Ryerson lets the students connect with all the leading personalities in government, business, culture, and healthcare at the campus’s doorstep. The campus also has the Ted Rogers School of Management, Faculty of Communication & Design, Faculty of Community Services, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, Faculty of Science, The Chang School of Continuing Education, and Digital Media Zone (DMZ).

Currently, Ryerson has around 45,000 undergraduate and graduate students, from over 146 countries. This university has a plethora of courses with 100+ degree programs with 62 undergraduate programs and 49 specialized minor programs. It is the most applied-to University in Canada. The courses provided by the university are from various areas like Arts, Communication and Design, Community Services, Engineering, and Architectural Science, Science, and Business. Also, under the Ryerson ESL Foundation Program, there are specialized programs for international students whose scores do not meet the requirement for English proficiency.

Being one of the best academic and research universities in Canada, Ryerson has alumni all over the globe and some of its notable alumni include actress Nina Dobrev, actress Shay Mitchell, actress Hannah Simone, data analyst Joanna Kader, nutritionist Jennifer Gibson.

The University commands a very high employment ratio for its graduates. 95.1% of Ryerson graduates are employed two years after graduation.
