DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY

De Montfort University is a public university based in the city of Leicester, England. It was initially established as the Leicester School of Arts in 1870, but later it expanded to establishing different other colleges like Leicester Colleges of Art and Technology and Leicester Polytechnic. The university continued to add new subjects like engineering, building, and machine drawing and in 1992, it gained recognition as De Montfort University.

The DMU campus has various buildings like Campus Centre Building, Kimberlin Library, Queen’s Building which houses the faculty of technology, Hawthorn Building which includes DMU Heritage Centre and Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, the Trinity House which has the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Chantry Building, Great Hall of Leicester Castle which comprises business school and Gateway House. Furthermore, the campus also has the Hugh Aston Building having the faculty of business and law, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Centre, The Venue which comprises a skating rink, a movie hall, and the Vijay Patel Building which houses the arts, design and humanities school.

The university has experienced faculties for all its programs and offers more than 100 undergraduate courses, and over 70 postgraduate courses in the areas of business, law, art, design, humanities, media, engineering, energy, computing, sciences, and social sciences.

De Montfort University also has some globally recognized research institutes like Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility, Centre for Reproduction Research, Centre for Urban Research and Austerity, Cinema and Television History Research Institute, Cyber Technology Institute. Each year around 2,700 international students from over 130 countries choose to study at DMU.
