Northumbria University

Formerly known as Newcastle Polytechnic, Northumbria University is an open university that was established in 1969 post the merger of three regional colleges – Rutherford College of Technology, the College of Art & Industrial Design, and the Municipal College of Commerce.

The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to art, design, social sciences, business, law, engineering, health and life sciences and houses around 31,000 students approximately. Students get a variety of courses to choose from and thus, the university has witnessed a smooth increase in admissions post-2015. The university is also in collaboration with some deemed organizations like BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, International Centre for Life, and BINUS Design School. The university is one of the top ten universities in the UK.

Northumbria University has two campuses, namely the City Campus and the Coach Lane Campus and both the campuses encourage the personal development of the students along with academic development. The City Campus has award-winning architecture, advanced teaching buildings, high-tech laboratories, a library and splendid sports facilities. The second campus, Coach Lane houses students from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and has outstanding computing and library services, a modern Students’ Union, and sports facilities. Both the campuses are close to cafes, restaurants, chemist shops, stationery shops, ATMs and general stores which make them an ideal choice for the students.
