In the year 1963, after the proposal of the Robbins Report, the College then became a University, due to the amazing academic work it was doing. The University launched the Surrey Research Park that was inaugurated by the HRH Duke of Kent in 1985. Today, this Research Park houses about 100 companies and about 2,500 staff that work within the research and development sector. In the year 2000, the University shifted its campus to Manor Park, owing to space restraints. Today, Manor Park is home to a huge student accommodation, Surrey Sports Park as well as the School of Veterinary Medicine. The Surrey Uni boasts of numerous joint academic partnerships. It has a joint venture with the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in Dalian that is called the Surrey International Institute –DUFE (SII-DUFE).
